How to activate Electronic Identification (eID) signing for a document

How to activate Electronic Identification (eID) signing for a send-out

Electronic Identification (eID) is only available in the Professional plan and Enterprise Plus plan.

Electronic Identification (eID) signing is a great way to ensure that it's the correct recipient that signs the document.

An admin can activate eID for all send-outs done on the entity in the settings, or a user can activate it for an individual send-out.

We currently support:

  • BankID – SWE

  • BankID NO – NO (now signs with Qualified Electronic Signature, see below)

  • MitID - DK

  • Finnish Trust Network – FI

How to activate electronic identification in entity settings

Important: It will be per default for all users on the entity, and can be deactivated manually on the send-out.

  1. Toggle on Sign with electronic identification

  2. Click on Save at the bottom

  3. Done!

How to activate Electronic identification when sending a document

  3. Click on the padlock to the right side of the recipient's name

BankID Norway now uses Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)

If you sign with BankID in Norway, the signing technology is changing. GetAccept now supports Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) for BankID signing in Norway. Norwegian QES meets eIDAS "High" and uses a Norwegian-qualified trust service provider.

This change is driven by two separate external forces:

  • Regulatory enforcement (energy sector only): Norwegian energy retailers must collect verified customer consent using a Qualified Electronic Signature, starting April 1, 2026.

  • BankID technology sunset: BankID is discontinuing its legacy signing infrastructure. After April 1, 2026, the legacy "login-as-signature" method will no longer be supported.

Norwegian QES is different from the standard BankID signing previously offered in Norway, and it is also different from QES integrations used by GetAccept in other countries.

Note: Norwegian QES is not enabled by default. To enable it for your entity, contact your GetAccept representative. Sales will confirm the need with Finance, who will apply the "External Eid Signature" add-on in Chargebee. The add-on itself is free, but there is a cost of 15 NOK per signature.

Limitations of Norwegian QES

Norwegian QES is not compatible with recipient-gathered input. The following must be removed from documents or templates before you can select the QES signing method:

  • Fields

  • Signatures

  • Transfer of signature rights

  • Signing order

Norwegian QES FAQ

Is BankID QES required by law for everyone?
No. Regulatory enforcement applies only to the energy sector. All other Norwegian customers must migrate for technical reasons, because the legacy BankID infrastructure is being shut down.

What happens if a non-energy customer doesn't enable QES?
They won't be able to sign with BankID, but can still use handwritten or typed signatures.

How does this affect cost?
The legacy BankID signature, previously priced at 2 NOK per signature, is being replaced. The new add-on is free (no recurring cost), but each signature costs 15 NOK, which covers both the BankID signature and QES.
