Learn which national electronic identification (eID) methods GetAccept supports for secure, verified signing in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
Nordic eID support
GetAccept supports the leading national digital identity providers across the Nordics. These methods ensure that every signature is legally binding and includes the recipient's personal identity number where applicable.
Note: Electronic Identification is available on Professional and Enterprise plans.
Sweden — BankID (SE)
Swedish BankID is the national electronic identification system used for high-assurance identity verification in Sweden.
Verified Data: Captures the "personnummer" (SSN) on the signing certificate.
Platforms: Supports both Mobile BankID and desktop versions.
Norway — BankID (NO)
BankID Norway is the official digital identity system used for strong authentication across Norway.
Verified Data: Provides Norwegian personal ID verification and high-assurance e-signatures.
Platforms: Works via the BankID mobile app and traditional BankID methods.
Qualified Electronic Signatures for BankID in Norway
GetAccept supports Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) for BankID signing in Norway. This update reflects two separate changes affecting Norwegian customers:
Regulatory enforcement (energy sector): Norwegian energy retailers must collect verified customer consent using a Qualified Electronic Signature that meets eIDAS "High", starting from 1st April, 2026.
BankID technology sunset: BankID is discontinuing its legacy signing infrastructure and replacing it with a new QES-based signing platform. After April 1, 2026, the legacy "login-as-signature" method will no longer be supported.
With Norwegian QES enabled, you can:
Continue signing with BankID using the new, supported technology
Collect Qualified Electronic Signatures that meet eIDAS "High" through a Norwegian-qualified trust service provider
Avoid disruption when legacy BankID signing is shut down
Note: Norwegian QES is not enabled by default. To enable it, your sales contact confirms the requirement with Finance, who applies the "External Eid Signature" add-on to your entity. The add-on is free of charge, but each signature costs 15 NOK.
Limitations: Norwegian QES is not compatible with recipient-gathered input such as form fields, recipient signatures, transfer of signature rights, or signing order. These must be removed from documents or templates before selecting the QES signing method.
Denmark — MitID
MitID is Denmark's national electronic identity solution, which replaced the older NemID system.
Verified Data: Provides government-grade authentication for both private and business identities.
Platforms: Signers authenticate through the MitID app or physical code tokens.
Finland — FTN (Finnish Trust Network)
The Finnish Trust Network (FTN) is an umbrella framework that aggregates all major Finnish electronic identification providers.
Verified Data: Ensures secure, high-assurance national identification for Finnish residents.
Platforms: Signers select their preferred Finnish bank or identity provider from a secure list.
Why use eID for your documents?
Using eID signing provides a layer of security that standard "click-to-sign" methods cannot match.
Legal Compliance: Meets strict regional regulations for verified signatures.
Identity Certainty: Guarantees the recipient is exactly who they claim to be through their national ID.
Rich Metadata: Automatically appends the signer's unique identity number to the document's audit trail.
Norwegian QES FAQ
Is BankID QES required by law for everyone in Norway?
No. Regulatory enforcement applies only to the energy sector.
Why do non-energy customers need to change anything?
Because the technology used for standard BankID signing will no longer be supported after the legacy infrastructure is removed.
What happens if a non-energy customer doesn't enable Norwegian QES?
They won't be able to sign with BankID, but can still use handwritten or typed signatures.
How does Norwegian QES differ from QES in other countries?
Norwegian QES uses a Norwegian-qualified trust service provider and is separate from the QES integrations GetAccept offers in other countries.
