How Chat Works in the Deal Room
The Deal Room chat helps you and your buyers communicate directly inside the shared space, keeping all questions, feedback, and decisions in one place. Chat supports both group conversations and private direct messages, and now opens as an overlay on top of the room so you can stay in context while you talk. This makes collaboration faster and more transparent throughout the buying process.
What You Can Do With Chat
Chat enables you to:
Communicate with all participants in one shared thread
Send private direct messages to a specific buyer or colleague
Share images and attachments
Mention people using @name
Keep all deal-related communication in one central place
Accessing the Chat
Open your Deal Room.
Select Chat from the left navigation menu.
The conversation panel will appear on the right side.
All participants with access to the room can see the chat unless messages are sent as direct messages.
Chat now opens as a floating overlay on top of the Deal Room instead of taking you to a separate page. This means you stay anchored in the same place in the room, can reference the surrounding content more easily, and can close the overlay to return to your work without losing your spot. You can also open chat from more places in the Deal Room, making it quicker to start a conversation from wherever you are.
Note: While the chat overlay is open, it covers most of the underlying page. You remain in the same place in the Deal Room, and you can close the overlay quickly to view the full content again.

FAQs about the chat overlay
What's the main difference from before?
Chat is no longer a separate standalone page inside the Deal Room. It now opens as an overlay, so you stay closer to the content you're discussing.
Why is the overlay better than the previous experience?
It reduces context switching. You can open chat, reference the relevant room content more easily, and close it again without fully leaving your place.
Can I still see the page while chatting?
Partly. The overlay obscures most of the page, but you remain anchored in the same place in the Deal Room and can open and close chat much more easily.
Does this change the core purpose of chat?
No. The biggest change is how you access chat and how well it fits into the Deal Room workflow.
