Overview
Section Prompts let content managers define how AI should generate or update specific sections in Deal Rooms, templates, and resources.
Instead of sales reps writing prompts or opening the AI editor, each section has a predefined prompt attached to it. Reps simply click Update section or Update all to generate tailored content instantly.
Section Prompts work alongside full-page AI creation and editing, so you can generate or restructure entire pages with a prompt and still rely on Section Prompts for consistent, section-level updates.
What are Section Prompts
A Section Prompt is an AI instruction attached to a single section in a page.
When a rep updates that section, AI uses:
The predefined prompt
The selected data sources
The current deal context
to generate clean, structured content directly in the section.
The prompt itself stays hidden and is never shown in the live content.
Why use Section Prompts
Before Section Prompts, reps had to decide:
Which prompt to use
How to phrase it
What context AI should consider
This often led to inconsistent results and extra manual work.
Section Prompts remove that decision-making. Each section already knows what it's supposed to contain, so reps can focus on selling instead of prompting.
How Section Prompts work
A content manager attaches a prompt to a specific section
The manager chooses which data sources AI can use (Content, Buyer Data, Knowledge, Meetings)
The prompt is saved behind the scenes
A rep clicks Update section
AI generates or refreshes the content in that section
Prompts persist over time and are not overwritten.
Using Section Prompts in templates and resources
Section Prompts work in:
Deal Room templates
Content resources
Live Deal Rooms
This allows content managers to turn existing templates and resources into reusable smart content, such as Discovery Summaries, Business Cases, or Executive Summaries.
Each section can have its own purpose and prompt.
Example: Discovery Summary resource
A Sales Enablement Manager sets up a resource called Discovery Summary and attaches a custom prompt to each section:
Key pains: List the top challenges the buyer mentioned, grouped into themes.
Impact of the problem: Summarize how these challenges affect the buyer's workflow, revenue, or efficiency.
Stakeholder priorities: Identify and highlight the priorities of each stakeholder mentioned in the meeting.
After the first discovery meeting, the rep adds the resource to the room and clicks Update all to produce a clean, structured summary aligned to what the buyer actually said. The prompt lives behind the scenes, so the rep can keep updating that section at any time with a single click.
Structuring pages into smaller sections
Because each section can carry its own prompt, content managers can break template pages into clear, focused sections instead of a single large block. This makes prompts smaller, easier to maintain, and more reliable to update over time.
Updating content with Section Prompts
Update section regenerates only the selected section
Update all regenerates all sections on the page that have a Section Prompt
Content is only updated when a user clicks an update action.
Editing after generation
After a section is generated with a Section Prompt, reps can still use Edit with AI to refine or customize the content further.
Section Prompts handle the first draft. The AI editor can be used for follow-up edits.
Combining Section Prompts with full-page AI
Section Prompts are designed for repeatable, section-level updates. For broader changes, you can also use AI to create or edit full Deal Room pages.
With full-page AI, you can:
Create entire Deal Room pages using natural language prompts
Edit a full page, a single section, or multiple selected sections with AI
Rework layouts, merge content, and restructure pages
Use presets, saved prompts, or free text to guide the output
Provide additional context via prompts, files such as PDFs, or URLs (including files from the Files tab)
AI can dynamically structure pages by adding, removing, or reordering sections, applying existing layouts and elements, and applying section and text color schemes based on entity branding settings.
You can switch freely between AI editing and the manual editor at any time, and combine both approaches. Section Prompts continue to work as expected on any sections that have them attached.
Note: AI gives you a strong starting point, but you're always in control of the final result. Review AI-generated content before sharing it with buyers.
Permissions and control
Admins and owners of templates or shared resources can create and edit Section Prompts
Reps cannot edit prompts on shared templates or shared resources
Reps can adjust prompts in their own Deal Rooms or personal resources
This keeps shared content consistent while allowing flexibility where appropriate.
What Section Prompts don't do
They don't overwrite content automatically
They don't change templates unless run
They don't remove access to the AI editor
Why this matters
Section Prompts help teams:
Standardize messaging across deals
Keep templates clean and easy to maintain
Reduce manual work for reps
Generate more consistent, high-quality AI content
By defining structure upfront, content stays organized and easy to update throughout the deal lifecycle.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between Section Prompts and AI Prompt Templates?
Prompt Templates are reusable, general-purpose prompts. Section Prompts are tied to a specific section in a resource, template, or room.
Can reps edit the prompts?
Reps can tweak prompts inside a room or when working with their own content resources, but they cannot change prompts on shared templates or team-wide resources. Only admins and the owners of those templates and resources can edit the reusable Section Prompts.
Can reps still use the Edit with AI modal?
Yes. Section Prompts generate the first version directly in the section. Reps can then use Edit with AI to refine, iterate, or customize further.
Will this break my existing templates?
No. Prompts remain behind the scenes and never replace content unless a rep chooses to run them.
Can I update more than one section at a time?
Yes. Click the Update all button at the top of the page to update all sections within the page that have a Section Prompt attached to them.
Can I still edit pages manually if I use AI?
Yes. You can switch between AI and manual editing at any time, or combine both approaches.
Does more context always mean better AI output?
Not always. Very large or broad inputs may lead to less precise results. More focused inputs produce more relevant output.
How is AI usage handled?
AI usage is based on your company's AI allowance. Additional usage is available via the AI add-on.
