How to Connect to HubSpot

Authentication Options

There are two primary methods to authenticate and connect HubSpot with GetAccept Automation:

  1. API Key Method:

    • Use Case: Ideal for users on HubSpot’s legacy plans or those who prefer using an API key for quick integration.

    • Setup Steps:

      1. Log in to your HubSpot account.

      2. Navigate to your HubSpot account settings and find the API Key under "Integrations > API Key."

      3. In GetAccept Automation, navigate to the HubSpot connector and select the API Key method.

      4. Enter your HubSpot API Key to authenticate and connect.

Note: The API Key method may have limitations based on your HubSpot plan, and it might not be supported in newer HubSpot accounts.

  2. OAuth 2.0 (Private App) Method:

    • Use Case: Recommended for newer HubSpot accounts or those needing more secure and granular permissions.

    • Setup Steps:

      1. Log in to your HubSpot account.

      2. Create a private app under "Account Settings > Private Apps" and configure the necessary scopes (permissions) such as crm.objects.contacts.read, crm.objects.deals.write, etc.

      3. Generate the access token from the private app.

      4. In GetAccept Automation, navigate to the HubSpot connector and select the OAuth 2.0 method.

      5. Enter the access token generated by the private app to authenticate and connect.

Important Note: Using OAuth 2.0 via a private app allows you to customize the access levels to meet specific security and compliance requirements within your organization.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during the setup or operation of your HubSpot connection, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Invalid API Key/Token: Double-check the API key or access token used during setup to ensure it’s entered correctly and still active.

  • Permission Errors: Ensure that the correct permissions (scopes) have been assigned to the API key or private app used for the connection.

  • Access Issues: Verify that your HubSpot plan supports API access and that you have the necessary subscription level.

  • Connection Timeouts: Ensure that your network allows communication with HubSpot’s servers. Also, verify that there are no firewall or proxy restrictions that might block access.
